How do I set my CD-ROM's sensitivity?

Postby IcedFoxtrotter » Fri Mar 26, 2004 8:40 am

Does anyone know how to set just how carefuly a CD-ROM reads a disc? As an example, my #1 which is a normal CD-ROM, will very carefully read a disc when you have it copy to your music library. It will sit there for a half-hour if it needs to, trying to figure out what is under dirt or what should be where a scratch is. The sound quality out of it is just awesome. On the other hand, bastard #2, a CD-RW, doesn't even make any effort whatsoever to read a problematic CD. It just blows through and ignores anything it cannot understand within about 1/10'th of a second of reading it. It does this same damm thing with game instalations too. Of couse, it makes copied music sound like crap and games that get installed from it to often not work or run at all. >:( >:( >:( >:(

Is this a windows, bios, or CD-ROM driver/software setting? #1 is a Samsung, while #2 is a Mitsumi.

Any input is appriciated.

Hey what do you expect from me? Especially when you said any input is appreciated!! ;D

I'm interested in finding out if anyone here has a intelligent answer because I have the exact same thing happening. Except both are Samsung so I guess that blows the manufacturer therory out the winder.
