or to be exact, a PC Card with two USB ports, now as some of y'all know my laptops USB ports broke when i sent it to be fixed last time. ::) now i cant afford to pay for it to be fixed as it is out of warrenty and it cant be done by a shop down the road because it needs to be sent away. Now i have found a PC card that will go into the slot on the side of the laptop which would give me two ports, however details of how good they are and just what can be used with them are sketchy.
So does anyone have any experiance or knowledge with these devices??
cheers
craig

USB is USB. If it fits and connects it should work fine.

I never added one to a laptop, but on a desktop PC, there is a ribbon cable that needs to be connected to the mainboard's USB riser.
The PC card connector might do that in a different way.

There is no "good and bad" and any USB device should connect just fine, depending on whether you have USB1 or USB 2 support.

hi congo and thanks.
The way it works is by sliding into the PC card slot, simple as that. The slot was originally meant for things like Flash cards, making it easier to transfer pictures from digi cams and so on. As technologys evolved its become more useful. Its not too expensive so i might give it a try
