TV card?

I have been thinking..........

We have a TV downstairs connected to a DVD recorder and freeview set top box. Unfortunately we can only record the program we are watching. As my new PC comes with two huge disks and a DVD writer I am thinking that a TV tuner/recorder card would be a perfect use for it!

Does anybody have a TV card? - Or know someone who has? - And what is the quality of the picture?

I was thinking of the nebula DigiTV card - http://www.nebula-electronics.com/infor ... ?Code=0001

It's got great reviews but I can't find any pictures of the quality anywhere.

Hi Bird man ;) ;D
Well I'm using a Ti4600, and I can play DVDs on the PC and output them to the TV or video and the quality is great (I'm using a soundblaster card for audio).
I'm still trying to master video capture however....

Thats slightly different Ozzy, this would tune into an incoming  digital signal from the roof Ariel. I have no reason to doubt the quality of it - after all its the same equipment as a freeview set-top-box just put into a PCI card!

I just have a mistrust of anything that sounds too good ::) Anyway I think i'll give it a go and see what happens!

I'm still trying to master video capture however....

Perhaps you could try windows movie maker?

It came on Tuesday - after some fiddleing with aeriels I finally got it working! The picture quality is excellent and the software is great. One gripe however is that I cant seem to set it to the correct date.....

The signal for a few channels such as ITV2 are slightly volatile but thats no loss! (24 hour pop Idol or whatever crap they can think of next...)

Now I have to find some things to record! - then I can get burning... (manic Dr Evil laugh)

It also means that the computer for sister may get the go-ahead!
