Hi All,
             I haven't quite decided yet as to which vidio card I'm going to get, however after reading the postings, what ever card I get it will be AGP.  My question is this. Can I tell by looking at the motherboard which slot is AGP?  The apec on my computer says it has available AGP slot. Do the slots look defferant or are they the same and AGP/PCI is selected via the software?

I'm running XP on a T2200 e-machine:
spec are: Amd Athlon, 1024mb ram, 3D S3 Pro savage DDR 32mb,

My device manager show that the current card is PCI.

Your AGP slot will look very much like a PCI slot but will normally be a different colour and will not be lined up with the PCI slots, it sits further back on the MB. Every MB I've seen also has the AGP slot positioned near the top of the comp when everything is installed.

Your MB may have jumper or BIOS settings to disable the onboard video and allow full use of the AGP slot, some boards do this automatically when the slot is populated (card installed).

It is the closest one to your cpu and is usually brown aswell.  It is also parallel with the pci slots which are white usually.

 The info well be very helpful when I'm able to upgrade to a very very much need card. . Since I made the post above, I went up and d/l a new driver set for my chipset. When I installed it one of the things it upgraded was a driver for AGP's. So I'll be set when i get the card, now all I need to find out is how to activate it, that should be with the card.
