DirectX 9.0b?

Postby microlight » Mon Feb 23, 2004 3:53 pm

I have DirectX 8.1 on my WinXP system - will I notice much improvement in frame rate in FS2002 from going to 9.0b? (PIV 2.0gHz, 512mB RAM, Radeon 9200SE)

Thanks!

:)

Direct x should be upgraded fpr compatibility anyway, I think there is a DX 9.1 version about to be released. So, you could wait a few weeks to get that instead.

Thanks for the replies, guys; I'll maybe hang around until 9.1 comes out, and then make with the 'restore point' in XP!

Cat 4.2 - is this the upgrade for the Radeon card that you can download from their website? I wasn't sure if it was applicable to the 9200SE, which I know may not be the hottest card around, but it certainly handles weather better than my GeForce2 did. Will installing the Catalyst drivers make that much difference?

Again, thanks for the help.

Yes they will improve the performance from whatever you have now but you will need to download DX9 to use them.

Go to the http://www.ati.com/support/driver.html site, select your OS, select graphic driver, then select Radeon.  Then you will be taken to a download section.  You need atleast the display driver and control panel.
