Hi,

My M/soft ffback has just died and I'm thinking of replacing it with the Saitek X45. (Can I live without ffback?)

But I need convincing. It looks like the dogs bollocks (not sure if non UK people will understand that, ie, the best.)
Anyone had any problems running it with XP?
Read a report on the stick (below) from justflight.com
But on the Saitek site it said it was compatble with XP.

Please note: The programming software will be available for Windows 2000 and Windows XP later this year, this joystick will not work if you are runnining Windows 2000 or Windows XP

So, if its not fully supported with XP that puts me off.(Ive been down that route before)
Anyone have any problems with the X45 and XP?

Also there was a feature called, "8-way MouseController " what exacly does that do?

And what about the rudder control. I did like the twist action of the ms stick. With the X45 its rocker switches on the thottle, Ive read. What is that like?

Are there 2 versions ie, old and new?
One site, Dabs, is selling them for

My Logitech Wingman (Force Feedback) is faulty, so i'm gonna take it back.  Saitek do one with "Rumble Effects".  Is that the same as FF?

i don't know exactly, but i've got a similar thing on my new "fox 2 pro shock". in reviews, which i've read it says that this is no true force-feedback ,just a slight vibration, for example when you fire your guns in CFS2 or when you're hit.

I have an X-45 and it is indeed the bollocks of the dog of your choice.  I have had no issues under XP at all.

GET IT!!!!!!!

Just replaced my Wingman Force 3D with the X-45. Works fine with my W98SE. Moving the rudder from stick to throttle gives me better stick control, although I'd still like to try pedals. Ability to assign things like gear, flaps, trim, prop and mixture to the appropriate and intuitive HOTAS buttons and hats is the best feature. I don't really miss the FF. And the quality of the machinery is excellent in my opinion. Paid US$70, ordered direct from Saitek USA during a pre-Xmas promo. Included ground UPS (to the border anyway) Still messing with the programming but so far so good.
