5950 ultra troubles

Postby Daz » Fri Jan 02, 2004 9:51 am

hey guys recently bought my brand spanking new XFX geforce FX5950 ultra to go with my system below but i have a problem

it works ok but when i power up it advises me that it has turned down the settings because there is not enough power going to the card. i am running a 360 w psu so that should be enough.. i have even disconected the fans inside my pc and still comes up with it...

should i change the AGP power in teh BIOS or will something else fix it?

thanx

Don't the 5950's require an extra power feed (usually an HD power plug) ???

I know, the FX5600's pull as much juice as you'll get from a 1.5v AGP port, I'd hazzard a guess,Daz, your card's missing a power lead.

If your anything like me, it'll be at the bottom of the box, along with the unread instruction manual!  ::) :-[ ;D

I've just blown up my old pIII by trying to get an FX5200 to work in it! (Only AGP 1x board....) all is fine with the said machine, now I've replaced the board with my old Jetway one (Which powered my FX 5600 just fine) Sadly though, my Celeron has seen the light of day again!  ;D Still, at least its now not in my No.1 machine!  :D

Hope you sort it mate,

Paul.

EEEEEK!!

Don't change the card's power setting in the BIOS!

That's just a voltage setting........ not a power increase.

You got something wrong (like 4_Series_Scania says about an auxillary power cable) or you just don't have a big enough power supply to run everything. (those fans don't use much!)
