3-D glasses

Postby J3 » Sat Nov 22, 2003 1:15 am

Has anyone else tried the 3-D glasses from e-dimensional?

I got mine a few days ago and they are rather fantastic when they work, but there is a lot of trial and error involved.

maybe we can help each other. 8)

I am running a p4 at 2.4Ghz with 512 meg of ram, through a radeon 9700 video card with 128 meg of ram. and I am running th XP pro edition.

I bought the wired version as well.

but cannot get consistant operation.

I am getting blocky text and scenery objects, even before engaging  the 3-D mode. By this I mean the text for things like the brakes message are bolcky and distorted.  Objects such as trees are showing thier cardboard cutout surrounding them as a black box.  things like engine or tire smoke are boxes that flow away from the source.  The sundogs are black squares.  I am also geetting what I call "big screen" or blooming in some views, and frequent lock ups.

On a whim last night I tried it with two other games listed on their site that were supposed to be supported by this device.  It would do nothing but beep at me when I tried to go to the 3-d mode, the only saving grace is that it did not interfear with those games.

I bought this device for one main reason, flight simulator.

Needless to say I am not happy, but form the time that I have had even limited sucess I was impressed.  This is the only reason I have not yet demanded my money back.

There was no manual and the read me files are cryptic at best.
while going thru the install I was told several times that this software was a beta version, I e-mailed the company and was sent an updated file along with an e-mail saying that the software was not a beta, it was it's final form but had not been altered to say so.

Needless to say, for something that has been on the market for at least a year, it is terrible.  Reguardless of what they say, I feel I am a beta-tester that is paying for it.

I am now gong to press to test on thier claims of support, but am not holding my breath.  I did intend to wait and see if they would fix it before I said anything negative in a public forum,  However having given up the kind of money I did I feel like I have been wronged and if they expected me to give them a good review they should have shipped a finished product.

Doesn't sound encouraging I'm sorry to hear.  From reviews it appears hard to set up but when it get going it is outstanding - maybe a good lunch for the reviewer works wonders (LOL).

I have a different graphics card - I'll keep you up to date when I receive mine.

thanks for the link I may be looking for another source.
E-dimensional has not responded to my e-mail and ALL of there phones are constantly busy.

I have requested instructions on returning the product and getting a refund.

If you possibly can I suggest that you refuse delivery of the glasses and ask for your money back.

I finally got time to try out my e-dimensional 3D glasses.  I have a nVidia FS5600 and once I loaded the correct driver AND disabled antialiasing (AA) they worked suberbly.  My monitor is a good one but quite old so the highest rate I can get is 75hz and therefore there is a bit of flicker.  The insructions are OK but really should warn about switching off AA.

Why can we not get AA to work with 3D ?

My 2cents worth is....I read that you cannot use the glasses with anything but a CRT monitor. If you have a LCD, it affects the glasses-somehow. :P
