Graphics Card Advice

Postby Scottler » Sat Dec 27, 2003 10:59 am

Okay, I just got FS9, and although it runs well, I'm thinking I could get some better graphics if I upgrade my graphics card.  (I'm such a logical lad.)

Here's the thing...I know there have been some issues with various cards and types, but I don't remember what they were...

I've found a nice ATI Radeon 9200 with 128MB of RAM.  It seems like more card than I'll need, but never knowing what I'll want to do down the road, I figure it can't hurt.

Is this card something that should work well with FS9 and my system (specs to the left)?

Thanks!
Great edit, Bob.

There were some issues with Radeon and FS9, I'm not sure if they're all fixed yet. The other option is an nVidia 5000 series card.

Mark ;)

That's another one I was looking at.  It's the NVIDIA GEFORCE 5200 128MB AGP, if that means something to anyone.  lol

Hyperion,

Welcome to fs2004.

I have an ATI 9600 pro agp card...... and I find it is NOT "enough card" to give good performance for FS2004.

Mornin' Scott.

I got a GeForce 5200 256Mb 400Mhz Card for Christmas.  I have about 1.5 times the frame rate in 2k2 that I had before but with higher settings.  All of my other games have improved beyond belief.  I am maxed out in Mafia and it is amazingly smooth.

If you can afford more card get it but I feel so far (3 days) that this is a good card.

Will

Hi

I dont think that you can ever have too much power for FS9!

The ATI 9200 will not be more card than you need (sorry  ;)).

Buy the fastest card that you can afford, unless you want to keep a lot of the 'eye candy' turned down.

Cheers Paul
