HDD upgrade

My current HDD is a Seagate 20-GB 5400-RPM.
Just got back from best buy where I picked up a Seagate 80-GB 7200 RPM on sale for $90.00 + a $50.00 mail in rebate, so $40.00 is all it really cost me.
How much difference is this upgrade going to make? I know its gonna make a difference in the amount of planes in my ACOF hanger ;D. Is the speed difference going to make a noticeable difference or is it not going to be noticeable? Anyways just thought I would ask.
Thanks,

Kevin

P.S.  It is kinda my christmas present so I can't install it until then so I figured I would ask.

P.S.S.  the refund is going toward a Saitek X-45, my LATE christmas present  ;D

The faster the little thingys rotate, the faster the info can be gotten to where it needs to get to. Will you see a difference? That depends. ;D

IMO, yes, you will notice a difference. Are you planning to install it yourself, if you are, make sure you know exactly how to do it. I ended up re-installing Windows becuase of a problem that I shouldn't have made (obviously ::)).

Are you going to add this to your current HD, or replace it? If you are going to add it, move the swap file to the new drive and you will notice a huge increase in speed.

Installed it yesterday! It went rather quick and simple so I moved everything to that drive and let the wife know that anything she wanted on the computer could be put on the "other" HDD HEHEHE!
I have noticed a nice change in speed with the new drive. Windows boots faster, games load faster, FS9 loads a whole 30 seconds faster, and my FPS went up a little I think ( not really sure since I have it locked but some things seem smoother now like changing views and online flying). Best thing I have added since the NVIDIA card (of course its the only thing I have added since then).

P.S. Just in case wendy or sarah (or any other females I don't know of here) read this let me clarify my previous statement. Deb, my wife, can use the new HDD for games and anything else EXCEPT text documents. As she is constantly typeing up what I see as a meaningless family newsletter or other wastebasket filler, she is restricted from the new drive since I cleaned out a full 4GB of these useless files that she never seems to be able to part with. My wife, the text file packrat. LOL

The Saitek X-45 is a God.  Worship it.
