Bios Drivers

I have a question regarding Bios Drivers.  How do I find out what sort I need and where do I get them from?

I have a PIV 1.7Ghz and my new graphics card had some "issues" this morning, it reccomend upgrading these drivers and I'm a little stumped.

got the new bios drivers for my mobo from the manufacturers website. Could never install them though as they would not write corecttly to a floppy to make a boot disk.

OK. This is a little more than complicated, but well worth it. You will need to give me a little more info on your system (BIOS Settings, OS etc.). Then you will need to go to the manufacturer's website and find the new BIOS or FirmWare drivers. If you give me more info, I can find these for you.

When you have found them, you will probably download a .exe that will start and ask for a blank formatted floppy disk. Insert this and wait while the cylinders are written. A disk image will be copied to the floppy disk. Once this hasd happened you restart your computer with the floppy disk in, and it should come up with a DOS screen that will take you through the setup.

One word of warning, if the power turns off during the update process, you may permanently damage your BIOS and have to get a new motherboard or computer. So make sure you are not going to have a power cut or your hamster is not going to nibble through the power cable.

I am a complete muppet when it comes to these things and I have no idea how to find out what my BIOS settings are etc.  

My Specs are:

Pentium IV 1.7 Ghz
512 MB Ram
GeForce 5600 256MB 400Mhz Graphics card
Soundblaster card
60GB Hdd

The system is 2 years old and was made by Tiny Computers.

Will, judging by the sound of it you will need a "Motherboard" update, which I think, is what Tiny calls BIOS updates, they can mean the same thing.

If you can find out which motherboard you have, this would help enormously, because then we know which driver to download

Try having a look here: http://www.timesupport.com/timesupport/drivers/motherboards/motherboards.html and see if your motherboard is listed. If it is, then download the appropriate driver and install it, taking notice of the warning I gave in my last post. If it is not listed, please let me know and I will try and help further.

PS. With a new-ish system, the BIOS should incorporate an update feature - it usually does on Tiny systems. This means that once you have found the software to install, it is incredibly easy to upgrade your BIOS. If the install package comes with a Readme, I would advise you to read it before installing.

Thanks again.  Do I need to take the back off the system to find this info or is it shown somewhere in Windows or do I do the press F7 thingy to get it?

I just updated mine this morning and to find the info (XP)
try.

start-all programs-accessories-system tools-system information.

I have a Dell computer (never again!) and via their website they scan your system and can tell what you have and what you need.
So if you have a pre-built computer I would try the manufacter's website, and start there.

The Tint support site doesn't have anything that matches anything in my system information.  As I'm clearly clueless about all this, and with the fact that since installing the 53.03 drivers I have had no further issues I'm going to leave this well alone for now.
