NVIDIA Driver's...Help!

Postby RichieB16 » Sat Sep 27, 2003 2:48 pm

OK guys, the other day I was helping my parents by installing some things onto their computer and decided to download the latest video card drivers and install them-just to be nice  ;).  Anyway, the7 lasted for a little while them suddenly stopped working-I have redownloaded them but I'm affraid it's gonna happen again.  So, does anyone here know where I can get some older issue drivers for a GeForce3 TI-200 card on a Windows ME system.  I don't feel like investigating this problem too much and I never had this happen with older drivers.  So, I just want to try and get some older drivers-install them and see if that solves the problem.  Does anyone know where I could find them?

Hi Richie.... ;D...!
What has happened to the original CD drivers that came with the boxed card...?
I invariably find that they are the most reliable when all else fails.... ;)...!

Often the latest, un-certified drivers can give all sorts of problems.... :'(...!

Cheers mate... ;D...!

P.S. ALWAYS keep all your original hardware CD drivers in a safe place.... 8)...!

Yeah, I couldn't seem to find that stupid CD.  But, I reinstalled those drivers and it looks like it's OK-must have been a glicth.  But, I thought that the drivers from the main company website (I downloaded them from NVIDIA.com) where usually OK to use-that it was when you tried drivers that someone else modified you ran into trouble.

RichieB16,

For the back catelouge of nVidia drivers, and if you're running XP or Win2000, see here:http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp-2k_archive.html

I've done lots of tests (I've tried all the drivers) and in my opinion, the best for FS2004/FS2002 in terms of a trade off between quality and performace are the 40.72 drivers, the link is here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp-2k_40.72.html

Also, something to note when you mess with drivers is this: Drivers can screw up!

I reckon you should make sure your system is clean of all drivers before you install the new ones. A great free driver cleaner is here: http://www.softnews.ro/public/cat/14/4/14-4-75.shtml

Just unzip and follow the instructions, it's very intuative.

Hope that helps, I know how much of a pain drivers can be, I found out the hard way, I'd hate for you to have to go through the same thing as me!

If you want any help or advice, post here and I'll do my best.

Regards,

Ric B.
