Another Question on Cooling

I want to buy an AMD Athlon XP 2000 but I'm not sure on cooling. My Computer is in an old case designed for Pentium II systems and originally was only cooled by vents. I installed one cooling fan in the side of the case and have a large CPU cooler and heat sink currently installed. I still have room to install a hard drive cooling fan in an empty drive bay. I'm just wondering if this is adequate cooling for the processor I intend to install. The parts I'm currently running that generate the most heat are a Duron 950 and a Geforce FX5200.

Just remember that the heated air must expand and so you will need more exhaust area than intake area....two fans ( one in and one out ) should help move the air for you though.....my preference would be to have one fan, low in front, pulling cool air in,...and two high, blowing out the warm expanded air....maybe one on the side and one on the back, or just two on the back to ensure the flow is maintained inside as much as possible........
.....it might be advisable to move up to a stronger power supply too.....

wow cooling isnt a problem for me realy i just have one hell of a big beefy fan on my cpu (athlon thunderbird 1.4) overheats a lot espec on my motherboard about 60'c at times
maybe i should put a few more fans in i have spare bays available

So why not buy another case equipped with a better power supply and case fan. Toms Hardware Guide did some testing. Check their site.
My setup AMD 2000, has a case fan, power supply fan, CPU fan, graphics card fan and a Thermaltake intake fan front lower which I installed. Temp sensor for rpm is taped as high up in the box as it would reach. Does increase noise somewhat but signifcantly increases airflow out the back. $15 for the fan and has all hardware/connects.

AMD's need lots of cooling.
But P4's outstrip AMD's . . .

I have an XP2000+ with the original cooling unit, a asus fx5200 (overclocked a little) also with the standard cooler all in a PII case with a 300W power supply unit
I only installed an ordinary exhaust fan on the back of the case.
running games and fsim i reach max 40-43 degrees celsius, everything runs stable
