A simple question from a simple ole fart!!!!  lol    Will increasing RAM improve the frame rate?  Thanks

Hey Splash,

How much RAM you got and how much you going to get?

I can give you two answers, one simple the other.... less simple:

1. Yes it'll help

2. Increasing RAM will help upto a point.

I say upto a point because at some stage it will no longer make a difference if your CPU is too slow, as is my situation.

I, for example, have over a gig or DDR ram, but I only have a 1.4GHz Athlon. With sliders maxed and a high poly aircraft I will get between 6-20fps. If I upgrade my CPU to be fast enough to use the full potential of all that RAM it should help dramatically.


My point is a ton of RAM ain't going to help unless you've got the CPU grunt to back it up.

P.S. A big honking graphics card will do wonders aswell.

Thanks WeeDavie.  I didnt get any response on here, so I posted it to FS2002 and got a pile of responses.  If you are interested check it out, I am having a puter built to specs and specifically for FS  lol  But thanks much for your help.
