Question, why would you want to upgrade your video card? Its kind of terrific as it is now and it matches your system too. What do you want to improve?

My 7870 is starting to shoot craps so thought I would start looking for a new one and upgrade at the same time.

Hello, sorry for taking so long to reply.
That is a pretty logical reason to think about upgrades. Since your present system is so good it shouldn't be too expensive to take it up a notch. Good luck with this and please let us know what you did and how you like it when you are finished.

Sorry it took so long to get back. I found out it wasn't my GPU at all. It was one setting in my BIOS called Performance Enhance. After setting this to Extreme my flight sims run better than ever. I do have one question though. While running FSX and watching CPUID HWMonitor my GPU Clock Memory shows 0 Mhz and a utilization of only 29%. Can someone explain what these mean. Thanks.

No, I cannot answer that question but in regards to your original question, I found http://www.simforums.com/forums/drivers-nv-inspector-fsxcfg-complete-guide_topic36586.html lately with some hints on how to get the best out of nvidia cards for fsx - with the clear statement "Nvidia is the GO-TO video adapter for FSX. ATi cards are not." He seems to know what he's writing about, he also wrote a so-called "bible" on how to optimize a pc for the use with fsx: www.simforums.com/forums/the-fsx-comput ... 46211.html
Maybe his hints help some of the readers here even though they are a bit older already by now.
