I'm really confused

Postby coalpedlar » Sat Aug 29, 2015 4:52 am

I have FSX Gold and a Saitek x52 stick. In trying to program buttons, keys- do I use the Controls menu in FSX and just assign buttons to functions/
Or, do I use the Saitek Profile Editor, build a profile and program that way?
The Saitek site is very confusing and their support is a figment of my imagination.
Thank you--

What I do with my Saitek Cyborg X Fly5 joystick...or any other one, is just program all the buttons etc, from the Flight Sim drop-down Controls menu menu.

I don't bother with the complication of using the Saitek Driver CD options.

Hey there coalpedlar, I have a saitek X-52 and I do as Paul said. I just use the FXS to assign the buttons and sliders as I too find the Saitek set up too confusing. :? It may just be I'm too old and slow on the draw  but I have had the stick for about 6 years now and every once and a while I take a look at the Saitek way of assigning the controls and it is more confusing to me each time that I see it. :? The FSX setup is the quickest way for a set up and gets me flying quicker. <<q

Keep smiling

Yep that's what I do, however I though I would be a bit clever and once I had assigned the controls I saved a copy of the
C:\Users\Rich\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\Controls standard.xml file. I though it might save a bit of time just copy the file on the next install, but it won't work, anyone any idea why. :?

do not save as "standard.xml". it will be re written every time you restart.
give it a new name.
for example, I use "FixedWing.xml" and "Helo.xml"

I'm not too sure how to put this so sorry to seem a bit thick, but how do you save it as, is there a save function in FSX or is there a way of directing fsx to different xml files. Or of course I've completely lost the plot and have no idea what I doing
