I mean I have 2 Tb hdds and I wish to put them in my home network as small server to allow anyone to read /copy files but I don't want or even me to delete/replace the files inside them ,is there a way to phorbit to format /delete /change files from a hdd ,something like a hard drive just to be read only?

when you share a folder or a drive in windows, there is a check box option for allowing users to change or delete files, uncheck it and the drive will be read only to users.

1. Click on "My Computer".

2. Right-Click on the "Drive letter" that you are setting up.

3. You will see a link that says "Sharing". Left click on that.

4. There will now be two check-boxes for the options you are looking for. Check them accordingly.
