start up menu

Postby blackgranada77 » Fri Aug 22, 2014 3:35 pm

My boot up speed went from 33 seconds to 168 seconds and I cant seem to figure out what happened. Could it be in my start up menu and if so just what are the bare minimums that need to be on at start up........

My wife has problems like that every now and then.

When she starts banging her hits on her keyboard, I run a series of anti-virus programs.

It's not that she hasn't got one always running, it's just that she downloads so much stuf (cr4%), and always agrees to do a "recommended" install.

She now has a laptop to download "stuff", and a separate computer where she doesn't download anything. At least I hope not.

Have you checked how many programs are hogging your start-up? I mean there are a lot that insist on coming on during start-up that don't need to be there like Adobe Reader, and printer engines. Best bet, download CCleaner (its free and easy to use, you can get it at filehippo.com). Go into Tools, then Startup and disable anything that obviously doesn't need to be turned on each time you switch on. Then watch the difference ;-)
It also doesn't hurt to clean the registry and run the cleaner itself to remove junk.

Thanks. Have run WiseCare365, MalwareBytes and Hitman pro3 which I purchased plus my anti virus program and checked my start-up menu. Also updated latest drivers and chip sets. Nothing. Could I E be the problem?

Can you remember what you've installed when the boot time went up?
What antivirus are you running?

That should have been "When she starts banging her fists on her keyboard......."

Had that dyslexic moment been one letter different - "....starts banging her hits...", might have gotten me banned.

No new programs. Just downloaded another WOAI aircraft. The only programs I have on the computer besides what came already installed are Wisecare365, Malwarebytes, Hitman Pro3, CPUID, TechPowerUp GPU-Z ,Edit Voice Pack X and of course FSX GOLD\ Acceleration.I am using MS Security Essentials as my anti-virus program.

Wise Care 365 MAY be your problem.

A few months back I had the same kind of program slow down my computer VERY BADLY.

Download and run the FREE version of Revo Uninstaller to remove Wise Care 365.

I've been using it for well over ten years without a problem.

Revo is a clean program that adds nothing other than it's self to your computer.

What it does do VERY well is to track down all parts of the program that you want to remove.

No, run these programs one at a time. Malwarebytes first then Hitman Pro 3. Don't know if this helps but had a Windows update (13 updates ) after I clicked the shut down app. All updates downloaded successfully and configured ok upon start up the next time but that's when I noticed my boot up times had slowed way down. Any thoughts on this.......

Sorry for not being clear, black.
I know Malwarebytes has an autoscanner built in (i dont use it), and i thought Hitman also got one! Running two different scanners at the same time will always slow a pc down and cause conflicts!!

Forgot to mention installed a lot of new drivers also. Cyberpower helped me with that since I bought the computer from them they ran a test to see if I had any drivers that needed updating.
