Hi

I use a Samsung BX 2231 very good in terms of resolution and colors accuracy
In addition, not expensive at all: a bargain :D

Cheers

I was trying to find a simple way to describe the difference, but there are quiet a few variables, depending on your situation.

The shot of it is go for DisplayPort, HDMI, DVI, or VGA in that order.

You can read this if it'll help - What’s the Difference Between HDMI and DVI? Which is Better?

You'll probably be limited by your video output on the computer, and the input on the moniotor.

Most of them will look like these.

DisplayPort & VGA

DVI & HDMI

Of course there will be mini versions of some of these.

On top of that there are adapters & converters to make one work with the other.

PS - For the most part DON'T go for the high price cables.

I was using a couple of LG Flatrons in my last set-up. They're not quite 21.5 but close and cheap like borscht.

It can. But what you have to do is to look at the back of your computer to determine what type of connection it's capable of.

If it only has a VGA connector then you'll need to replace the video card.

As I posted above;
"The shot of it is go for DisplayPort, HDMI, DVI, or VGA in that order."

DVI is better than VGA.
HDMI is better than DVI.
DisplayPort is better than HDMI.

On the other hand DisplayPort works best with HIGH end monitors.

If the monitor is just average to good, go for the DVI/HDMI. Your picture quality should be better than VGA.

Two of my 23 inch monitors are ASUS and I very happy with them.

But the only advice I can give, would be to walk around in a store with a good selection of monitors until you find the one you like

So, yancovitch, how's it up there in your new home? You'll have to shop on line from there. Future shop, Costco or Staples. <<t

aw heck...i ended up ordering a 24" lg monitor---LG 24EN33TW 23.6IN Widescreen LED Backlight LCD Monitor 1080p 10M:1 16:9 5ms 1920x1080 VGA DVI, from ncix in vancouver bc.....i'm afraid i had to go for the cheapest...under $200 including shipping....if i live long enough and have to upgrade my computer, i'll do the monitor too per old airmail's advice.......and yes i've had to purchase so much online....patches for nylon jackets, eye liner for wife, hdmi cable, 14v batteries for makita drill, etc etc......driving three hours to prince george bc and back to shop is something i'd rather do once a year :):)....i did have an iquana lizard...got too big ...gave to pet shop...but that was many years ago....having a pet requires too much attention for me....even just feeding my wood stove requires too much attention:)....born lazy.....
