This is always a favorite question.

When you click "Upload", the link will appear at the top.

Paste the image.

Done.

A good way to see how some of the other things are done is to click on the "quote" button in a persons post.

Yup, there's lots of ways to do it.

The most important thing (as far as the Mods are concerned) is that you pull the picture into the website before you post it.

BTW - If the picture is already in SimViation, all you have to do is to right click on the picture and choose "Copy". then you can put that between IMG & /IMG.

Before doing any of the above make sure the image is in the correct format & meets the forum size limits. Resize if necessary with your favourite graphics editor.

I just find an envelope...
Open the flap.
Insert the photograph.
Lick the flap and close it.
Address the envelope, stick a stamp on it.....
...and post it.

Sorted!

it's not compicated at all -- just upload -- copy the bold bit where it says 'copy and paste' (when you've uploaded) - right click 'paste' on the page where you are posting - et voila! 2 or 3 clicks <<q

One thing that you may want to get is a photo manipulation program.

There are some very good, and very expensive, programs. And then there are some that range from simple to very good, and cost nothing at all.

At the very least, you'll want one for cropping (cutting out a portion of the picture) Like this.

Image

To this

Image

The second thing that you'll use a photo program for is to reduce the size of the picture. As Hagar says, it has to be in the "correct format & meets the forum size limits".

Taking the first picture for example. It "looks" too large. For a picture of an aircraft in a good setting, the size would be fine. Otherwise, a smaller picture would be better.

Image or even Image

You can read about the size requirements here - New upload limits.

Actually it's self controlling. If your picture is in the wrong format or exceeds the size limit, you won't be able to upload the picture.

At any rate, you can control all of that with even a simple photo program.

The one that I like is PhotoFiltre. It's not necessarily simple, but it'll do more than I need, and do that very well.

Best of all - it's free. :D

Hi there Sprocket.
Most of us are using BDSizer to get the picture in the right size for upload.
Stay away from Softonic if you want to download it! Just a warning.

One of the best things here is learning about what other people like.

And guess what! There's a lot to learn, and a lot of options.

I downloaded BDSizer and gave it a try.

Not enough to become familiar with it, but enough to find out that it isn't for me.

Back in the stone age, I wanted to become a photographer. Unfortunately, that isn't an easy way to make a living.

Long story cut short: I used to develop my film by hand, & print my own pictures with a Beseler enlarger.

99.9% of the people probably have never seen this thing. :D
Image

So, to me, composing a picture is important. And that's why I like a fuller photo program.

Lets take this untouched picture of Madeira island.
Image

You can get different effects by doing nothing other than cropping the picture, while maintaining the size.

Climbing into the sky.
Image

Going out into the wide world.
Image

Flying past you.
Image

They're all un-modified, except for their composition. And that was done by cropping the picture. And it's very easy to do.

If you want, read more here - 10 rules of photo composition

That was all 40 years ago, and if I had been any good at it, I'd be a photographer today. :D

Rich, there is one thing i want to add.
I've always thought, that screenshots in freeware or payware forum, has to be what you see on your own pc!!
Not any cropped or eddited photos!!

There is another forum for that!
Sorry if i misunderstand this O0

Thanks, Bass. Me Bad.

Framing a shot is natural to me, whereas "editing" pictures means something different, again, to me.

Looking up the Screenshot rules, I now see that they mean ANY changes at all to the screen capture.

Other than that needed to conform to the image size requirements, I suppose.

I've spent the past 3 and a half hours packing up my awards, and have sent them by special courier (along with two armed guards) to the twenty second floor of SimViations' world headquarters.

Let that be a warning to you, Sprocket. He who does Bad WILL be brought to justice.

Seriously though, aside from what you enter into Simviation Screenshots Showcase, or any contests, do crop/frame pictures if you have the time.

As to the 10 rules of photo composition, that should still be acceptable.
