Multiple monitors. There's so much to be said about their setup and use, that it's hard to know where to start.

Where you should start, though, is by telling us what you have now, and what you want to do.

I use a bunch of monitors for different purposes.

I can, if I want, use the 3 main monitors as one VERY wide single screen. Microsoft calls this "extended mode".

With 3 monitors you can "wrap" the 2 side monitors at a slight angle. To much of an angle and it doesn't look quite right.

I have two 23 inch Asus screens of the same model. That's very important. Unfortunately, the third screen is only 22 inches, and is from a different company.

Over all, it works ok. In day to day use I only use the two Asus monitors.

With my graphics card I can use hot keys to instantly change my monitor configuration. One monitor. Two monitors. Or all three monitors. And back again. No cable switching necessary. That part works perfectly.

But Windows does some odd things that you have to change when it goes into multi-monitor monitor extended mode. IF you only use your computer for multi-monitor gaming, then that is absolutely not a problem.

What WidevieW does (with the aid of another NETWORKED computer) is let you create TWO (or more) different views, INDEPENDANT of the main FSX monitor. For our purposes they would most commonly be adjacent views.

If I had a dedicated flight simulator setup, I would probably go the WidevieW way.

To see my take on multiple monitor setups read PART 4 - Graphics Card, and Catalyst Control Center in The poor mans sim pit.

to start with, I have a 64 bit, 16 g system, it an ASUS desk top, grafics card is a NVIDIA 650.
I have 3 monitors in surround set up. I also have 1 monitor so I can Undock GPS, etc
Iam hoping the Wideview will make it easyer to set up the 2 side monitors, right now I have to do it before each flight, and it does not seem to follow the main monitor which is in the middle.
In advance thanks for the help

Good. Your system will be adequate!

As I said, I would use WidevieW if I had a dedicated Flight sim setup. But using Catalyst Control Center lets me do something similar.

I also haven't had a NVIDIA card for a long time. So I'm hoping that you can do something similar to CCC.

Microsoft, as I'm sure you know, will connect 2 or more monitors by "extending" the desktop onto the second monitor. From what you're saying, I guess that what you're using is extended mode.

I'll describe the CCC setup a little because I'm sure that NVIDIA must be able to do the same thing by now.

I have 6 "presets". These are screen arrangements that I've created for my needs. They are activated with a 3 finger salute (hot key selection).

Standard 1, 2, and 3 are just that: standard MS "extended" screens.

Dual Screen is a CCC arrangement where Windows thinks that I have one real wide physical monitor.

Triple Screen is a CCC setup where Windows thinks that I have one physical screen that is as wide as 3 monitors. This is not the same as 3 monitors in EXTENDED mode.

Flight Sim 3 Screens is the same as Triple Screen but with modifications. THIS is what I switch to when I want to use all 3 screens for FSX.

This is two screens in extended mode. Notice that the task bar is only on the left side of the desktop.

And this is ALL THREE MONITORS as a single CCC monitor. If you look very close you'll barely be able to detect that the task bar runs all the way across the bottom of the screen.

THAT is what I think that you need to create with your NVIDIA card. See the task bar across all the screens. Windows and FSX think that it's only one screen.

WidevieW does something similar, but in a totally different way by using a second computer with the extra monitors attached to that second computer. I also think that you need to buy two copies of WidevieW. One for each computer. I don't know, however if you need two copies of FSX.

I'm sorry if I can't help you more. I was hopping that someone with WidevieW experience would step up and answer your questions.

BTW - I used to have a separate monitor for a GPS. Then I bought a GPS panel from Desktop Aviator, the Model 2450. It's a great buy.

As it is intended to be mounted in a panel, I built a "box" case for it. I have no room for a dedicated flight sim pit.
