X45 Calibration

I'm sure this topic has been covered in the past but please bear with a newbie!

Just acquired a s/h Saitek X45 stick/throttle combo. Loaded the drivers all seemed OK until I came to calibrate the unit - I then found that the x/y axis for the stick were showing in the top LH side of the calibration screen rather than in the center, the rudder was showing 60% to the right and the throttle wouldn't go past about 70%. All other buttons etc seemed to be OK.

Tried to use it in FSX but was totally useless - as expected.

I've tried looking on the Saitek site and did find a couple of topics in their forums but unfortunately they haven't helped - the one that looked promising had a broken link so couldn't see what that resolution proposed. And Saitek appear to have discountinued support of the X45 unit.

As I said, I'm pretty sure this topic must have arisen in the past so any help would be gratefully received.

thanking all in anticipation

Paul

On my Saitek Cyborg Evo Force Joystick I found that as soon as I had loaded the Flight Sim, and before I took-off, I had to rotate and twist the joystick and throttle, etc, through all its extremes a couple of time to centralise everything....otherwise the aircraft lost control!...
...then it worked OK....I had to do it every time the Sim was loaded!
It would not save my settings.

Paul...now using a new Saitek Cyborg X, Fly 5.... ...!

Are you using the original drivers from a disk? or did you D/L drivers from Saitek?.....I would try the later.

. . . thanks for the comments peeps - tried the rotation method! Didn't do anything - also tried (info from another link) the idea of loading FSX whilst holding down the shift key and doing full rotation etc - didn't work. As for drivers - I didn't have a driver disk when I acquired the unit so had to download off the web - they appeared to be the latest drivers - someone else on another site suggested I need to get hold of the original drivers but not found a copy yet - still trying.

"Just acquired"... ...

Did you purchase this joystick, fully packaged, with Driver CD, from a reputable dealer....

..or from another source, second-hand, returned (faulty) goods, etc..?

Paul.... ;) ...!

. . . bought second-hand from ebay without original packaging or CD - seller doesn't want to know with regard to returning the item as he claims they are not faulty and that I just need to find the correct driver set for them! . . .

. . . basically £45 (+P&P) worth of scrap at the moment . . .

I always obtain all my various "Stuff"; computer hardware and software, musical instruments, bike spares, kitchen/garden implements, etc, etc, everything, from reputable dealers, and pay the full price, for peace of mind!

...lessons to be learned?..... ;) .... ....!

Paul.... :D ...!

...."E-Bay" scares me!.... :? ...!

I have the Saitek X45 and am now using it ok. In my progress to upgrade my system I went through the same problems. This is what you have to do. 1st. remove all the new versions of Saitek. The original version was plug & play and a default driver is in your windows system. Use it instead and calibrate through your settings.
You didn’t mention what system you are using, my guess is Windows 8. Run your FSX in XP compatibility mode and you won’t get any problems.
The only problem I have with it now is that somewhere I loaded too many AI Mooney Bravo’s and I get a warning when I change airplanes.

Actually I'm running Windows XP SP3 (this PC is purely for games so haven't bothered upgrading OS) - tried removing Saitek drivers but still getting exactly the same - x/y axis is in top LH portion of calibration screen, rudder to RH side etc

Insert the word; "Joystick", in place of the word; "Parrot".

That will explain the situation as I see it.
