Seeking FS2004 and Saitek products help

I recently got rid of FSX, was having to many issues with it. I reverted back to FS2004, I have been trying to get my Saitek products to work with FS2004. I went to the Saitek website, and they claim their products will work with FS2004 but they require Pete Dowson's FSUIPC 3.90... I've downloaded this (current version that I downloaded for FS2004 is 3.99... haven't been able to find 3.90).

This is what I have (Saitek):

1 - Multi-Panel (autopilot, flaps, trim wheel, etc)
1 - Switch Panel (magnetos, switches, landing gear, etc)
2 - COM/NAV Panels

^ Following the instructions on Saiteks website to get these function, doesn't seem to work!

Another problem I am having, the Saitek YOKE and RUDDER pedals seem to work fine... but, the throttle quadrant doesn't... The throttle lever works fine, but the propeller and mixture controls don't! The propeller lever works rather poorly and the mixture doesn't work at all!!! Even though I was able to ASSIGN the mixture control, it doesn't work!

Any suggestions / help will be greatly appreciated

But i would recommend the latest
http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html
It have to work in fs9.

I dont have any Saitek products, but didn't you get any software with it?

Also, dump the saitek drivers and use the SPAD driver, I use the yoke and switch panel with FS9.

Here's the link. http://fstools.weebly.com

I know absolutely nothing about FS2004. But I think that Bass & RidhD are right, try to use SPAD and FSUIPC to solve your problems.

But first GET RID OF THE SAITEK DRIVERS!!! Use the free version of Revo Uninstaller. The Windows uninstaller leaves a LOT of ... um... dog dodo.

Then try SPAD and the FS2004 software. SPAD is VERY good and it's free. Search their site for 2004.

I don't know if FSUIPC will work with FS2004 so check before you buy.

Between SPAD and FSUIPC you can do some very neat tricks without programming.

Why not just do a fresh install of FSX? I know that I've thought of that a time or two when I've, somehow, messed things up.

Thanks Bass, I do have the latest for FS2004 (v3.99) and even following Saitek instructions on their webpage, I still get the error message, and RichD, I'll give that a shot. OldAIrMail, FSUIPC is actually required for them to work with FS2004. It came with drivers Bass.

I discovered, by reading it around here somewhere, or possibly when troubleshootin' my Superbug from the VRS FAQs, that you hafta start FSX/9 after you install FSUIPC (I use FSUIPC4) in order to get it to work properly. A couple of meltdowns ago I kept getting an error box when I tried to strap on my 'Bug. Searched the world over and finally found an FAQ that specified running FS to 'finish' the FSUIPC install.

Once I did the FSUIPC4 download and install, simply fired up FS then shut it down, there was no more silly error box pop-up.

This worked for me at least. O0

YES U4EA! This is a "high end" advice, no matter what to be installed in sims/games.
Startup and make a test on each ;)

Well, got part of the problem fixed... but now part of one the LED lights on one of my radio panels is out!!! and I still can't the mixture and propeller controls on the throttle quadrant to work correctly... it recognizes it when I assign them in FS2004 but the propeller control doesn't function fully and the mixture doesn't work at ALL within the simulator itself.

Did your Saitek software came with any calibration install?

I had a similar problem a few months back.

In my case FSX had re-assigned commands to my throttle quadrant that had different commands assigned by FSUIPC.

FSX had my THROTTLE lever assigned to ailerons! This resulted in FSX trying to use BOTH throttle & ailerons settings with one lever.

I have no idea how or why that happened.

It does not, just default Windows calibration.. I calibrated it, and everything else works fine on it except those two! :(

^ I am thinking this is probably the case... how'd you fix it? I have them assigned accordingly in FS2004 and it recognizes the assignment, it just doesn't work in the simulator.

In FSX you can have a key, button, or lever assigned to some function.

If you give that same key, button, or lever a new assignment, the old assignment (whatever & wherever it is) is removed. Afterwards assign it the proper command.

That's a lot faster than searching for the problem.

I've used this several times in the past to clear up mistakes. Normally, when that happens, the key or button just doesn't work. The aileron assignment was the funniest one though, because of how the plane reacted when I thought that I was adjusting the throttle.
