I've been Googling this...  ME network info is spotty and inconsitent...

It's got to be in here:  Start/Settings/Network Connections ...

B U T.. even if you figure this out..  NTFS files (XP default , unless for some strange reason you installed XP using FAT32) do not exist to an ME machine.  XP can see FAT32 though..  So this might be part, if not all of the problem.

Its OOOKYDOCKEY now Brett,

I am so gratefull for trying to help without even seen ME for so long, bat proding and a few words here & there took root in my aging brain & gradually clicked!.

Went into the trusted "TweaK-UI" and found the lost cord "My Network places", ticked it & presto again it appeared on the desktop, double clicked it & all the innards of the PC appeared in my old banger laptop.

Its all go now & the wife is pleased & banging away on it.

Regards to all helpers, & if I do not appear screeming for help soon, Best of Seasonal Greetings                  luke

Brett is one of us old timers who goes back to the sys admin days when we used stone knives and bear skins, then chanted spells, to get 2 PC's to chat with each other much less an entire office or building which required a full time team of witch-doctors to keep connected

he he he

I been watching this one.. you got one heck of a pro helping you

as for the Laptop as a second monitor... I am not sure about that one. Never tried it. I am sure one of the graphics/monitor gurus around here would probably know like Jim or John Baymore

sorry, I was editing my post when you posted this one... I have never done a monitor connect from a PC to laptop.

I am not sure of the process although I can think of a few things to start the process. It would probably be best you wait for someone who is far more experienced on that end than myself.

Yes, there are things I do not know and I will be the first to admit that

Now that I think more about the electronic connection and how each function, I do not think it is possible to use a laptop as a strait extension of your PC monitor. I do know there are ways to use a program called WideFS for making 2 PC's work with MSFS which would probably be the answer you are looking for.

and JBaymore would be the person to ring in about that because that type of setup is right up his alley

You may want to post your question in the sim cockpit area which is where that would be used the most around here

After thinking about this I would like to know too because in my mind it does not appear it can be done as direct 2nd display.

LOL!

These kids probably think we are kidding

Even Novell would list articles that suggest magic spells are in use

just a joke, couldn't resist that one  :D
