My machine takes 2 minutes, 37 seconds to boot up and present the desktop. No doubt it's because of the 62 background processes, but I am at a loss as to what to do about it. Then I have to click OK in a dialog box several times to clear something about Norton Internet Security not supporting the Repair Utility. I never had this box until one day in March 2006, when I moved the computer from laying flat on its side to upright while it was booting. I've had it ever since...

I hate this flunkin' monitor. It blows away the text on the screen. I can barely read it. $480 total for this disappointment. I should have left it on the shelf...

First off do what Congo stated and see if that works.
Then go in and get rid of all the crap that eMachines installed on your computer, once you do that do a few defrag runs for good measure.
Then you need to go in and turn off crap that starts up when your computer starts.

As for a 22" monitor blowing text, not sure what you mean is it stretching it real bad, making it blurry??
If so I would think it is your monitor resolution that needs to be adjusted. As for the aweful sound if it isn't the software the monitor installed then my guess would be sound card, possibly drivers.

Also if this text issue is mainly on websites you have trouble with you must remember 99% of websites are not designed to be viewed on widescreen high res monitors so try resizing your window.
