Western digitals, at least my one, are dead silent you CANNOT hear them when running in quiet mode. In performance mode it's still fairly quiet.

Oh, and these modes I'm talking about are parts of my BIOS, I don't know if yours has them

I would never recomend useing the BIOS settings to controol the noise output of your hard drives. They decrease the noise by spining the disk slower, so by making them quieter, your also slowing them to possably 5400RPM.

eeeeeks! Bindoe, I dont think you wanna do that lol.... That could slow the comp way down, Normally all I hear from my computer is the clicking of the hard drive.... thats bad because I dont have any fans other than my Heatsink.... but your hard drives arent supposed to make noise (Least I dont think they are, mine are really quiet and have a small vibration of a spinning disk thats hard to notice), if they do they are probably sitting on metal/plastic and causing it to vibrate I had this happen once or twice because I didnt have a mount for the hard drive, I just stood it up  :o  ::), or they are just dying... either way, never tamper with the hard drive settings unless you are running some type of Raid Configuration.... My Dell (don't lecture me on how crappy they are 'cause I Know ) BIOS actually defaults to quiet mode, it does slow it down, but not really noticable.

Though, being a leetest I have them in performance mode  :o
