Uh yeh, Profiler. I never used it; maybe it could be of some use.
But FSUIPC is *the* solution. It's not that tricky once you read the istructions, and it can almost completely solve all the dead zone problems. You can set a real dead zone wide as you like it.

I stand by my previous advice. Keyhole surgery. Once you've drilled a hole and squirted half a can of WD40 into the innards of the joystick then the hole can then be plugged with Araldite to prevent the air and spiders getting in.

It's better advice than anyone else has given.

Honest.

I'd try it if it was my joystick.

But my joystick works.

Not that is has a twist function anyway.

Nor do I really use it these days.

I'll stop talking like this now.

Bye.

Love George.

Hey Foz.........have you tried locking down the twist function?

I have the Logitech Wingman Extreme Digital 3D(say that fast 5 times  ;D ) and kept finding myself applying rudder when it wasn't needed.

Are you sure it has potentiometers? Pots are for analog. Digital uses optical switches.

The twisting grip axis is analog on that stick.
I tried to lock it when I got the wonderful idea of using a set of pedals instead of wasting time with that bugger (  ;D ), but I didn't succeed. Prolly my unit has a defect because the instructions clearly state that the grip can be locked by turning the small screw. I turned it fully, and it only made the grip stiffer, it didn't lock it.
Btw, Fozzer seems to be determined to keep on using it, so locking it is not an option.
But what happened to Fozzer? Let's hope the thing didn't explode in his hands  :D

"Then the twist started to go leaving me guessing where neutral on my rudder was (every time)"
Indeed.
Dum de dum (happily stomping on my never-losing-neutral-position pedals).

Why should I eat my heart out, it's too hot these days, if you don't mind I'll eat it inside.
(seriously, what does that mean?)

"Eat your heart out"

Origin of Phrases...>>>
*****************************
Eat your heart out

Meaning:      Intended to make one feel bitterness or pain as they long for something out of reach.
Example:      Eat your heart out Bill, I'm seeing James now. You had your chance.
Origin:      Heart is also defined as the central, core, or inner most part of an object (or person).   To eat the heart out is to remove the core or most important part, a part that will surely be missed.

The phrase is probably a shortened way of saying "This will eat your heart out".

Alternatively,

Adapted from the 16th century "eat one's own heart", meaning to suffer from silent grief or vexation. It also has roots in the Biblical phrase, "to eat one

I'm happy with my Logitech, now that I've applied all the tweaks and changes I described above. At the moment, I don't feel the need of a replacement. When the time will come, I think I will invest in an X45 stick+throttle control or something the likes of it. Anyway, grats for your acquisition, hope it'll serve you well.

Congrats Paul for joining the Saitek club! :D I had two Logitechs just like yours and I loved them, but they had the usual rudder problems and it became like trying to fly a plane with severe arthiritis! :o I hope you like the stick. 8)

Now Paul - can you do it just for us? ........

Try what Woody said.

:P

Edit: With pics. ;) Or is it buried in the back garden behind the shed? :'(
