Well the 4800+ is basically two 3700's squeezed into one. Do you need it now? No. Will future apps use it? Yes. However the new question we must ask is "How good is AM2?" When we answer this question, then we decide wethar you want to go with a 4X series processer, or a 5X one.

Really I wouldn't look at building until around September.

Cheers
Cameron

Many thanks for the info CT.

I'm really annoyed now!... Cant decide!!!!

I think i will just stick with the 4000+, what do you reckon?> Am i making a good choice???

Aaaah i need some more input!!!!!

Oooh im going outside for some fresh air!

LOL

Lol, only time will tell if your making a good decision. The question is "When are you going to build?" If your just kinda feeling out how much your rig is going to cost, I can tell you right now that as long as you have $1500 in your pocket your fine.

But seriously, wate for september to consider building. New tech comes out around the holidays so thats the best time to buy.

I would be looking at only the 3700+ San Diego* core or the 4400+ in a dual core.

The 3700+ is a 4000+ and a 4400+ is a 4800+ except for the cpu multiplier. just get

Ive thought long and hard whether to go with AM2, but ive come to the conclusion that its only been out for a very short while, and that we havent seen the full "thing" yet.

So im sticking with 939, that way i know it will work, and i will garantee to have a good system.

I really dont see that MUCH of a speed different between 939 and AM2, and the AM2 stuff is more dearer..

So for me, my final desicion will be 939  8)

And i will be ordering in the morning!!  :D

PS: You know when your buying a custom system, is their any little, but vital parts which can be easily forgotten when buying? So far ive managed to include all cables etc. I'm just wondering if ive forgotten anything thats all... Give me some more tips...!

Any decent mainboard comes with most cables required, so don't double up.

I can't really think of any extra items required, perhaps cable ties, duct tape or hot glue for minor modifications?

I always paint the case internals with primer and a flouro topcoat, but that certainly isn't required!

Get lots of Zip ties. Trust me. Even if your not doing a case mod (as I do) your going to want them to get the wires out of your way as you work, and out of your view when the side panel is on (if your case is windowed0.

Anyone heard from Caveman, he was building his PC and I haven't heard BOO! from him?

Lots of luck Jimbo  :)

If the PSU has a voltage switch for the mains power, select the correct one on that new rig before powering up.

The Hiper automatically ajusts. If you mean between 220V and 110V if he bought it from the UK, then its already set.
