Eh Linux isnt all its cracked up to be. Ya I'll admit I've got a copy on my sencondar HDD just as a backup. If I accidently screw something up in windows, just go fix it in Linux, and were back up and running. Now I will say as for server use, Unix just mops the floor with windows, however for a gamer, you cant use anything but MS. Mac, and Linux just don't have the support that Linux will ever.

Also for those of us who are a fan of the eye candy, MS all the way. (Me loves my object doc).

Cheers

Nah linux has the eyecandy, just try one of the myrid of 3d linux desktops:
http://desk3d.sourceforge.net/screenshots.php

as for games the main thing thats holding it back is the graphics card makers not opensourcing there drivers meaning that the drivers cannot be intigrated into an install without violating the GPL, they have to be downloaded seperatly.  This also means that drivers cannot be improved by the comunity so they are tipicaly a few months behind the windows ones.  EG. SLI has only been around for a few months on linux.
Another problem is that many games use directx instead of Open GL so need a program like WINE to run under linux.. DOOM3 runs just fine as it uses openGL, It was also one of the best looking games when it came out.  I don't understand why games developers are using directx at the sake of compatibility.

Yeah.. there's a warm, secure feeling running a LINUX machine. It REALLY is yours...  You decide how things are organized.. what needs to be running and when and why. It's rock stable and bullet-proof.

I'm not sure if it still is this way, but M$'s famous "Hotmail" is one of LINUX's biggest claims to fame. It may have started life on UNIX servers.. I'm not sure.

I'm intrigued by this Flightgear.. Has anyboy experimented with it ?

Try as you may, I will never be sold completely to Linux. I have XP setup so as everything goes my way, not the machines,  and many of the open source programs I use (for my PPC say) just wouln't work on Linux as there is just no support. However like I said earlier Linux has its place in my machine, its just not as a primary boot.
