Beat me to it. :P
eVGA 9800GTX is cheaper and better...
without the MIR mind you.
From it's tech specs.
What does Nick think?

So it seems to be that nvidia's 9 series is a whole load of crud? That's too bad, I was hoping for some pretty incredible cards to come out.

After reading and stressing i see that the 9 series is not worth it. I would wait for Nvidia to produce the next gen cards. For now i am staying with the 8800 GTX/Ultra.

From what I've heard these aren't even next gen. Maybe the 9900's will do all of these amazing things we've heard that the 9 series is all about.

Maybe the (if there are any) 8900's will do better.

My very 1st GPU was a ATI Radeon Pro9600, then I bought a Geforce 8600GT XXX.

Well I am back to ATI, Nvidia just not doing it for me.

I mean, look at performance on the HD3870X2 VS 8800 Ultra and then look at the price difference  :o

Just my 2 pennys.

Geforce 9s are merely Geforce 8s on a new manufacturing process allowing slightly higher clocks. They should of called it the 8900GTX.

And I haven't heard a thing about these 'amazing' things that it can do - from the start all I've heard is that it's a rebranded Geforce 8. Oh well, congratulations to Nvidia for the Geforce 8 - It's been owning ATi since late 2006.

Meh, in my opinion, dual dualcore videocards are usually for rich kiddies. The fact that the 8800GTX came out late 2006 and is still considered high end is pretty impressive. Two years on, the only cards that beat it, is itself on a new manufacturing process, and a dual core videocard that has its own problems.

Also them 3dmark scores are bull. I bet you the 9800gx2 had a Core 2 duo E6600 and the 3870x2 had a Q9770.

True dat.
Comparing the 89 to the 88 GTX the 89 has a faster core and faster memory but is about the same price...?? Better cards...I suppose...
Next Generation gaming video cards...no.

I have to agree. I have the 9800 gx2 installed and all and all am not overly impressed with it. But I am not going to complain because I got a good price for it and plan on using EVGA's step up program when the true next gen monsters come out (just hope they hit before my step-up expires) If I would have had to pay full price for this thing it wouldnt be in my system. But since my friend paid for half of this card I guess I cant complain.

Seagate barracuda 1 terabyte hard drive
Ultra X3 1600 watt power supply
Coolermaster cosmos full tower case
Liquid cooling throughout.
