deleting grafix drivers

Postby luke » Tue Oct 31, 2006 12:14 pm

For erasing completely grafix drivers the "Nvidia Driver Detonator Distroyer" says "....cannot be run on this platform.....".

Is there another program to do the job?           luke

Get a program called DriverCleaner

That will do it. Remember to uninstall via the control panel, then boot into safe mode and use drivercleaner from there to ensure it gets rid of everything.

Thanx Gixer, I reinstalled fs9 and now the scenery is jerky when before was very smooth.

Reinstalled the  Nvidia "81.98_forceware_winxp2k_english_whql" driver

The later version 91.47 shown in their site downloads half way only for some reason.          luke

I just remove drivers with add remove programs in control panel.

My experiences with driver cleaner in the past (not recently) left me formatting and re-installing so I don't go near it unless it's an absolute last resort on someone else's system lol.

Add/Remove then restart and use Driver Cleaner. Never had any problems with it. I used it to remove Creative/Nvidia/Realtek drivers.

Thanx all,

Well I used the proper erasing method with "driver cleaner" but there is no improvement on fs9 jerkiness.

Any ideas on JERKY FS9 welcomed

It is all about setting up the correct display settings in FS for your system.

A program in the background could also cause jerkyness.

NVIDIA DRIVER SETTINGS

AF=16x
Anisotropic Mip filter optimization = ON
Anisotropic sample optimization = ON
AA = 8xS
NOTE: Nvidia has a bug where anything above 4x AA will blank out the aircraft preview screen. If that does not bother you then set up the flight as usual without the preview. It

And the above does not cover setting up Windows, cleaning up the start registry and doing a proper defrag maintenance.

MODIFY: Even worst now after modified fs9.sfg, as below:

AA & Aniso were always set to 8 & 16 on Nvidia & on fs9 with priview OK.

All done as per sugestions.

These lot I could not locate:

Conformant texture clamp = use hardware
Extension limit = OFF
Force MipMaps = none
Gamma correct AA = ON
Hardware Acceleration = Single Display Performance mode
Ignore open GL error = ON
Negative LOD BIOS = CLAMP
OpenGL threading = AUTO
Texture Filtering= HIGH QUALITY
Transparency AA = OFF
Trillinear Optimizationfiltered=ON
Triple Buffering = ON
Vertical Sync = use 3D Application
It is important for LCD the scaling in the Nivida control panel is set to:

Personally with that caard I'd run only 4x Anti-alias.

on my 6800 Ultra if I go to 8xs in full screen I get a black screen when I want to choose different aircraft.

Nick I thought there was a bug causing this on the older cards? I thought they had to be used at 4x only or is it a driver thing? I have the latest Nvidia ones on mine and have to run at 4x to stop this anomally.

But just before this attempt to reinstall drivers, last week, had AA & Aniso 8 & 16 on Nvidia, and was very smooth flying, preview OK & no black screens.

I couldn't use 4x AA without frame drops on my 6600gt and it was a decent leadtek one, I always chose 2qx.
I ran the sim at 1280x960x32 max.

I had 8 & 16 plus AA in fs9, at 1024 x 768.

It was only last week that I rechecked it.

Without those I was getting shimmering.

Just got the 91.47 driver, but is still the same, jerky.

Even defragmented again.             luke

Luke, the settings and FS9.cfg file edits I posted above make FS9 run smooth and visually sharp. If your not getting that then there is a problem, very possibly driver related.

I am not having any problems with the newer Nvidia drivers however I have heard a few people say the lower NV cards do not like the newer drivers so perhaps you should downgrade the drivers back to what you were running before.

Also, whenever you replace a video driver FS9 writes a new driver line in the FS9.cfg file. I typiclly edit out the old line so the sim does not get confused.

From what you posted above you did not make the FS9.cfg file edits I gave you. Without those edits your sum will not look sharp.

I would ALSO suggest you uninstall the motherboard chipset drivers AND the video drivers... then reinstall the LATEST motherboard drivers from Nvidia and last install the video drivers. Nvidia is well known for having poor performance if the motherboard drivers are not installed before the video drivers.

ALWAYS reboot between driver installs and give the system some time when it comes back to the desktop after a reboot to finish the job.. at least 2 minutes before doing anything.
