Waht FS is best suited

Postby candle_86 » Wed Mar 01, 2006 3:09 am

Hello yall, I have been play FS2004 at a rather low frame rate, but havn't installed my others yet. I own FS98, FS 2002 Pro, and FS 2004.

My system specs are

Intel Pentium 3 1000mhz
384mb PC-133
PCI Radeon 7000 64mb DDR
40X CD-rom
Windows XP Pro SP2

I can isntall Windows 98se if you think it will make FS2004 playable. I only have FS98 and FS2002pro as alternatives at the moment. FS2004 is set to mid spec and averages about 12-15fps on take off, it stops lagging around 20.000 feet. Problem is i love the old bi planes as much as the jumbo jets and cant barnstorm at 12fps

Okay....how much Memory (RAM) do you have?
That could be the root of the problem, but I;m no computer genius, so it's just an idea. :D ;)

Indeed RAM is low.  'Tis not the best of PCs.  I would reccomend at least doubleing your RAM, or perhaps replacing your current RAM with a faster 512 stick.  You would have to check if your motherboard supports this though.

Short of an overhaul, I would definitely put "CPU upgrade" on your stuff to buy list.  For now, RAM is woefully low.

This is a 1.0ghz PIII...  ?

I wouldn't spend any money trying to get that slow a CPU to try to run even FS2002.  A mother-board that accepts a PIII probably won't accept anything faster than PC-133 and you definately don't want to use up any cash on that.

That computer is probably more than three (or four) years old. Save your money for a new compter.

Id say get a 128mb 6600gt for graphics, you can always upgrade ram easily enough later when you have some money
My PC specs:
AMD Athlon 64 3200 (@ 2.2ghz)
Asus K8v se deluxe motherboard
1.5gb pc3200 RAM
128mb palit geforce 6600gt
200gb+80gb hard drives
21 inch CRT
5.1 creative surround sound speakers

Well the board im getting is PCI-E and they dont have any 6600gt PCI-E cards that they will swap is the problem. the 6600 is PCI-E PNY 256mb OEM and they cant get rid of it, so thats why they are willing to swap. What will i need to play FS9 at max with out aa or AAF. AA I don't notice on my montiter, as it has natural AA on accident, but its there, i dont have a such thing as a distinct line in a game to begin with :d

To play FS9 on max everything with 60+ frames ALAWAIES!

CPU: Intel 530 / 630 prescott
RAM: At least 1GB
Video Card: ATi Radeon X800XL or better. nVidia 6800GT or better.

Thats about the basic stuff.

Cheers

Well I refuse to run an intel CPU over the Pentium 3, Pentium 4 and D are just crap. I had an AMD 64 3200 and i out preformed a 3.6EE, also i only require a 30fps.
