Video card

Postby Alain1 » Tue Sep 04, 2012 10:33 am

I want to get a computer with i7-3770K.  I have a choice of 2 computers:  a Cyberpower with NVIDIA GeForce GTX560   or a AMD Radeon HD7770 1 GB CrossFire

What should I chose?

I am a complete zero with technology, and I live in a place where I would have to order everything over the internet.  I much prefer something ready made that I can buy over the Internet.  I wanted to know what type of performance I would get from the systems I suggested above.

Crossfire or SLI would not help much then, it would only be useful in games that would utilize it. I'm assuming you are running a single monitor? Personally, I would go with the fastest single Nvidia card you can.

I will run only one screen (at least for the moment) but eventually I may want 2 screens

Should I get the i-5 instead of the i-7

FSX loves processor, I would stick with the i7. Crossfire/SLI would become useful when you have multiple monitors.

Nononono stick with the i5
FSX likes CPU speed more then cores
If possible try and get a 2500k and overclock it
Mines at 4.3 ghz with a radeon 6870 and it runs perfect

Have to agree there.  My i5 2500k is OC to 4.5ghz (on air), and with my 2gb GTX660ti is as sweet as a nut. Only go for the i7 if you have need for it for other tasks photo/video work etc, or if playing some more modern games.
