3770K Ivy Bridge

Postby sagittarius » Sat Apr 28, 2012 10:32 pm

Hello, good people of the aviation world...
Just wondering, since the new Ivy bridge processors are already out there, has anyone had a chance to couple it with FSX yet?? I7 3770K in particular...If so, whats your experience. From what I've heard, it's not worth the upgrade from Sandy bridge...The overclocking is somewhat limited to overheating issues. But I've also heard some positive feedback as well. I'm just not quite sure how FSX would benefit from new Ivy processors. There are no comments on this issue yet.
Whats your input? Lets share with our experience!

Haven't used either. However, while it's not directed to FSX performance specifically, Tom's hardware had this to say:

As far as overclocking abilities go, I read that Ivy is really struggling pass 4.8Ghz mark due to overheating issues, while 2600K Sandy is more tolerable to heat and holds 5Ghz on air in many cases...It is also mentioned that 12-15% increase is expected from Ivy over Sandy bridge, so I was wondering how would that reflect the FSX performance...I guess, we have to wait for some folks to give it a try and see their results with Ivy...

My rig is almost complete, just waiting for the CPU and MB...still undetermined which one to go for.
