Video card not listed as option in FSX settings?

Postby schaalman » Tue Nov 15, 2011 2:40 pm

I have a core i7 2630qm with Nvidia gt525m w/Optimus but FSX only offers the option of Intel HD graphics.....

I seem to recall before I installed sp1 and sp2 that it listed my Nvidia graphics as an option.

Does anybody know if there is a way to offer my Nvidia card as an option? I went into Nvidia control panel and instructed FSX to use it by default. Is FSX using it in spite of the fact that FSX doesn't recognize it?

Would appreciate some feedback.....

I have both FS9 and FSX installed.

Windows 7:

In both programs my Graphics Card is automatically located and correctly listed:

Computer > Local Disk (C) > Users > Me! > Application Data > Roaming > Microsoft >  FS9.cfg  or FSX.cfg ....

....[Display.Device.NVidia GeForce 9500GT.0]

Your processor has integrated graphics which are normally in use, but the computer should automatically switch to your dedicated graphics hardware when needed. Go into the nvidia options and force it to use discrete mode all the time, although this may reduce battery life. You can always switch it back when you need better battery life.

If that doesn't work then I don't know how to fix it.

I guess it is using my nvidia gt525m.....it is listed in the FSX.cfg file like you said and the location of the card on my laptop is warm.....thanks.

I figured it might have something to do with the Nvidia Optimus feature that my laptop has?

addendum to my last post.....actually BOTH my Nvidia gt525m AND my Intel integrated graphics are listed in the FSX.cfg.

Here are "pieces" of my FSX.cfg file in 2 places.....
