Windows aggravation

My PC is networked via ethernet cable to a router shared with my wife's PC, which is the primary, and the router is connected to a DSL modem.

I don't have time right now to give you full directions on how to do it, but have you tried setting the router up for assigning static IP addresses to your computers? Might help.

What kind of router is it?

It's a D-Link DI604.  Will investigate 'static IP addresses'.
