Upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7...

Postby lunitic_8 » Fri Nov 27, 2009 12:13 pm

We got a laptop today from bestbuy for cheap...But it didn't have any software on it so we bought windows 7 for it... but back to the point..

My question is should I upgrade my desktop (Windows XP) im using now with all my files and FSX on it to Windows 7?

If I do will i get any performance loss or performance gain?

Will it effect how I run FSX?

Overall is it worth it?

If someone could answer these it would be greatly appreciated   8-)

Technically, there is a way to upgrade from XP, practically though, it's better to do a clean install to Win7.

If you do a search for "XP to Win7 upgrade" you will find the procedure on several web sites.

I don't know how it will affect FSX, but I'd run the Win7 compatibility wizard available at Microsoft that will check your system for any problems with an upgrade or clean install.

Microsoft advises XP to 7 requires a clean install. You'll have to back up all your files and reinstall them.
CD.

Make a small investment in another Hard Drive then use it strictly for Windows7 and have a dual-boot PC. ;)
That way you learn about 7 while keeping XP.
