OK.  Manually it is.

I just picked up a Rampage II Gene from Fry's and I'm gonna try it out with the Mushkins.  I know it's a mATX but I have hope for it, if I like it I'll keep it.

Update 6/2/09:

It was the sticks...bad chips.  RMA same thing, many tears.  Mushkin discovered they got a bad batch in and they're on top of it.  They tested a new set, different batch.  Sent them to me and they work PERFECTLY!  These guys busted their butts to get me a good set of sticks as quickly as they could.  Absolutely first rate customer service and I can't thank them enough.   :)

And these sticks scream.

I usually give new product some weeks to stabilize. I have also been lucky too with respect to defects. I have had my share over the years but I dont see defects all the time

and yep.. LOW LATENCY is the key to any Intel system.. older or new

The mushkin boys will always treat you right.. just have some patience. Especially when messin with new product

and you should always run them manually.. the profiles can present issues such as not showing all the memory available, etc

Thanks Nick.  I have them set manually to 1600, 6.6.5.18, 1N.  Other timings on Auto.

vDIMM 1.65; vQPI 1.356 (the board overvolts that to 1.37-1.40 so I might have to go lower).  I set vCore manually too.

All other tweaks on Auto.

This little board is FAST.  It's lean and mean!
