Graphics card disapointment

Postby ronwalker » Sun Mar 08, 2009 4:13 pm

I've just bought a new Radeon HD4850 to replace my Nv8500gt. I could get about 30+fps with the Nv card with most things maxed out, but now with the much newer Radeon my frame rates have dropped quite dramatically to 20 - 25fps. My system is an Core 2 2.66 with 2 gig ram. The flip side of this is that ironically it's VASTLY speeded up other games such as Armed Assault which was pitifully slow with the Nv 8500. Are there any tweaks that can be made to the Radeon setup or in the system bios?
Any help GREATLY appreaciated

Yeah the new Radeon cards aren't very good with FSX because of FSXs silly makers :D. But they are very good with next-gen games like, Cyrsis, Far Cry 2, Fallout 3 ;)

if fsx he won't get 30+fps mostly maxed with a 8500gt.
20-25 4850 sounds about right.

I fully agree, I use to have a XFX Geforce 8600GT and did not come near max.

Sorry Folks
I should have added its FS2004 NOT FSX.  I tried FSX and found it SSSSSoooooooo SSSSSlllllooooowwww, I just couldn't be bothered. I have FS2004 running pretty maxed out at 1024 x 786 and have now managed to twaek the Radeo to achieve about 35 fps. I really expected to double the frame rate over the 8500gt with the new card and thats the disapointment. However with armed assault it runs like a dream where the 8500 could just about run it smoothly but with options turned down. This is what I mean about moder kit. Until you fit you never know quite what results you'll get.......
