Follow Nick's instructions here.   Follow them to the T ;)

With your processor you won't be able to "max" out the sliders but then again you can't with an Extreme  Quad processor either. If you follow Nick's very helpful instructions you'll be able to enjoy FSX none the less. You'll find that that the fellow simmers here are a great bunch. They're extremely helpful and also very friendly, which is something other sites lack.

Welcome to the Vee by the way. :)

The part of that thread that deals with the graphics card is this post

The other posts in that thread are for getting the system in line so it performs

Actual FSX settings are based on what the hardware will do after getting everything set up

Oops, my bad.  I guess I should've stuck to the specifics of his inquiry, but I noticed he was new to the Vee and for anyone new here it should be mandatory to read and, if they so choose to, set-up their system accordingly to the full thread.  It's helped me, and I'm sure countless others, to have a better sim experience.

Sorry if I over-reached my boundaries with this.

I know Nick's advice has been a great help to those with XP and who can use NHancer, but I'm using Vista 64 and a Radeon card.

Tread carefully:  Nick is a puritan on this topic.  Vista in all its forms is anathema - and with it you cannot go to heaven.

But... I wish he would relent and help us manage this "over-blown, bloated OS" to paraphrase his words.

Milo:  I use nHancer and O&O defrag exactly as Nick has laid out - and I use it with VISTA 64 without problem.

His combination of nHancer settings and videocard control panel settings has proven a major advance for all of us.
