Network connection 6????

Postby vgbaron » Sun Jul 27, 2008 12:19 pm

Just updated my nforce drivers on my evga 680i mobo. Uninstall/install went well and everything is working just fine. However, went into network properties settings to check and noticed that instead of Network connection 1&2 showing, it was network connections 2&3. Figured I'd resetthem so I deleted them and had XP reinstall them. Now I have Network connectons 5&6!

Should I just leave it alone or is there a way to reset it to 1&2?

Thanx,

Vic

LOL - I had the same thought. Everything *works* just fine so Iguess if it ain't broke, don't fix it as they say!

If I'm right, I believe Network connections can be renamed like a normal file. Right-click -> Rename. Just tried it and it worked for me.
On the other question, names don't really matter for connections, so there's no need to fix them.

There are registry hack to fix all that but its just the silly way MS does this stuff. Just keeps renumbering even if the originl driver was uninstalled.
