Ruining My Performance..

Postby Ben R » Sat Feb 16, 2008 8:41 pm

Tonight, I found out I get so much better frame rates when my Anti-Aliasing is OFF in the sim, however, when I turn it off, I get Jaggies.

I have a Nvidia G-force 6150. My Anti-Sotropic Filtering is at 16x (the highest it will go) and my Anti-Aliasing is at 4x (the highest it will go) However, I need AA on in the sim to remove jaggies.

Does anyone have any advice on how to get rid of jaggies while AA is off in the sim?

All help greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Ben

My only advice is 2 options: #1 decrease some other things in sim or get a bigger ram

I have the 6150 (integrated...my 8800GT is on the way). This card can hardly do anything in the way of AA. To get the best out of this card, turn it all for performance. AA=<5 FPS no AA=20+

Hello.Usually what you do for better results is disable Anti-Sotropic Filtering and  Anti-Aliasing in the sim but you activate them on the video card menu. The results are very good, try and see if it works with you.

Ben, try to tone down the Anti-Sotropic Filtering to 4x that may help some. and if you don't like how it looks, try 8x, but I don't think you'll notice any difference

You need a better videocard, I have a 6150 onboard and it's lousy, just about copes with Half-Life 2 at 800x600, yet a 128MB ATI X300 which is a basic card totally destorys it, I can select much higher resolutions, detail, with AA and AF and still smooth.

6150 is suitable for office/video/htpc but not gaming

Anti Aliasing is depended on video ram, 6150 uses system RAM as videomemory. That's terribly slow. Therefore, Anti Aliasing will be terribly slow.

Get a new card... one that doesn't suck. Get an 8800GT. :)
