Another BSOD question

Postby richardd43 » Thu Jan 10, 2008 9:19 pm

My wifes computer does the occasional BSOD. She did not write the info down but thought it was "Paging Out of Page File Area".

Is this caused by the page file not being large enough or a bad defrag??

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

She is working now so I can't get the specs on her machine, will post them later if required.

Probably PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA followed by the file which faulted and a prefix of STOP codes

I need the entire error script. You should also be able to get it from the Windos event viewer. The event ID may also present a clue.

Running Memtest on her computer now.............

She is using the old Mushkin that I had. Just to be on the safe side I will pick up some more Crucial and use the Mushkin as spare. The Mushkin has passed Memtest before but never worked that good when I had it in my Crosshair.

I also did not realize she was running Avast, will install Kaspersky just to be safe.

Well, I wasn't rotten enough to give her the Crosshair board, hers is a new Asus M2N32 Board but I did use the old memory.

My new computer is based on the new Crosshair they gave me a couple of weeks ago. I have new Crucial in the crosshair so will just swap between the computers.

I only use the Crosshair a couple of hours a day when I am up with the birds and it is for nothing critical.

As far as the AV goes I  have Kaspersky Internet Security for hers and never installed it...... (CRS)

Once again, thanks a bunch for the help..

ps Wendy said thanks

I agree. The Mushkin is the memory we were fighting with when we tried to overclock the first Crosshair I had.
