I currently own a Dell 8400. My current specs are as follows....
3.4 Pentium with HT
200 gig HD
2 Gigs DDR2 mem
Geforce 6800 PCI-E X16 w/256 onboard
I would say you could go to your local Best Buy and pick up a Geforce card. Probly up to a 7600 range. However I found the safest bet would be to go to Dell. I did. They had my Rig on file. I went to the hardware update section and it only lists things (all hardware) that was compatible with my 8400. It's how I got my extra memory so I knew I didn't have to play the guessing game with what was compatible. If you still have an account with dell and you log into your last order, it should give the specs for what you purchased, then scroll down to the hardware upgrade section. Usually the first thing they want to sell you is memory, but the other tabs are there for graphics cards and the like. If you find a graphics card you like there should be a compatibility button somewhere On the right side of the screen. If you click it and it it has the 8400 series Dells there. it should work flawlessly. Should you come back to review this thread, I hope this was useful.
