Printer Advice...

Postby Ashar » Wed Oct 03, 2007 11:31 am

Hey all,
I just wanted some help. I need a printer for my dorm room as the library is all the way across campus...Can someone suggest one that would be reasonably priced...A color laser printer would be my first preferance, if not, anything else goes...Budget would be around $100 to $200...

Thanks,
Ashar ;)

Color Lasers start at about $250..so it would have to be a Color inkjet or a B&W laser.  Some of the cheapest to buy are the most expensive to run..you really need to do some research into which printers are the most economical on ink/toner usage.  It's worth paying the extra to get a more efficient machine.  Also consider do you need a scanner/copier as well because an all-in-one will take up less space in your dorm.

What Jim said. There are websites that compare printers and show overall and actual cost per printed page, figuring in toner/ink cost, how long the cartridges last, and reliability.

These links are a little outdated, but it should give you some idea. I had an article that did an in-depth comparison (initial cost, cost per page, cartridge/toner cost and lifespan, etc.) on many makes/models but can't find it now.
