anyone ever tried this? is it possible?

what if.... you had 2 monitors in a regular dual set up. on the first display you had your usual cockpit and then, on the second monitor you had all the controls such as GPS, throttle quadrants etc

sounds pretty, well, feasable doesnt it. but hey why would i be asking that. what if you replaced the second monitor with a touch sensitive one? would you be able to grab and move the throttles just by using your fingers on the screen?

what do you think of this idea? is it possible? how much could it cost and what (in the price of system resources) would it cost my system?

cheers

It's a good idea, it is possible.. and I have done it using 2 x 21" NEC Protouch Touch Screens
http://www.protouch.co.uk/touch/itemdes ... 01&eq=&Tp=

All the gauges were custom made to ensure the Mouse-Click areas were large enough for the average adult finger and sufficientlty separated from other Mouse areas so that you didn't touch 2 areas simultaneously.

The drawback of using stock gauges is that the mouse areas are usually small and close to other mouse areas.  Also it is very difficult to replicate the Mouse-hold(grab) event with touch screens as they usually assume a touch as a Mouse-Click event.

In summary it can be done and is very effective but it does take careful planning and customization.
