A new toy

Postby Gunny04 » Tue Jun 26, 2007 8:45 pm

Well I was at a goodwill with my grandmother and sitting in a grey bag up on a shelf hidden away was a grey sharp bag, I open it and I find an old RCA VHS Camcorder with all the Accesories (Battery, Charger, and the camera power wire) Was only 15 bucks so I bought it, Brought it home and fired it up, everything on it works, My problem is its VHS, is there ANY way to get the videos I take onto my computer? It's an RCA CC434, this is a HARDWARE not a software thing, I'm pretty sure it can be done..... just not sure how it's done.

This is my new camcorder

Is there a pull start on that monster :)

You could try something like this:

15 bucks is a good deal any way you look at it!

Wellll.. It's a hardware and software thing. If you have video card capable of capture, and the the software for ripping (sorta)... you can make digital recordings from any analog source. I've done almost exactly what you're trying to do. The vidoe quality is low and the files are enormous.

I found my adapter... this is what it looks like. You can see it plugs into the S-video, enabling both video in and out on the video-card..

Edit.. I'm pretty sure the regular S-video is capable of both in and out (if the card is capture capable).. this just allows a TV/monitor to use the S-video at the same time...

So basically all I need is an S-Video cable from my VCR to my video card..... Hmmph I just bought a 25ft long composite cable for my tv, back to ebay and this time for S-video cable.... Interesting, I plan on trying to see how it works so I can take short 5-10 minute videos with it, the microphone on the thing is excellant and the light..... Heck you need those!

plug it into camera, plug it into USB and then capture
