250GB Hard Drive
256mb Nvidia GeForce 7300GS

I'm no expert but why not get a fast processor like the 5200 and also a better craphics card like the 8800 series?

Dump the CPU and GPU and go for a E6300 and 1900XT instead.

God, dump it all.

C2D E6420
Gigabyte GA-P965-DS3
2GB DDR2-800
250GB SATA3 WD
X1950 Pro / 7900GT
XP Home, Professional, or MCE NOT VISTA BASIC!!!!!!! If you get vista basic you will slam your head against the desk asking WHY?!?!?! No Aero, No high end networking, No sidebar, nothing that makes Vista...Vista, its just more of a reskined XP that doesn't work as well. If you must go Vista, go Home Premium at the very least.

Oh no don't dump it all, if you want to buy an AMD system make sure you get a good board and get a 6000X2 or close, You will pay significantly less for an AMD system if you are on a budget because AMD has fallen behind the curve lately and have their prices super cheap, not to mention the FIFTY PERCENT price cuts on OPTERON cpus comming June 5th! Yes you loose a tad of the performance to Intel but if you are on a budget and want lots of bang for your buck you got AMD, and if you do your reading you will find how well AMD is streamlining the upgrade process to their K10h cpus.

Im not going to list any parts because I don't know your budget or needs but what you have there is not going to go over well with your FSX expectations. What I am trying to say is read and read and read reviews, benchmarks, prices find out what you can afford and then find your best option, and always try and leave a path for tomorrow open and it will keep you happy longer.

Good luck!

Good to be back Jim, good to be back. Between work and school, the V got kinda pushed out of the way.
