Decision

Postby ThatOnePerson » Sat May 05, 2007 2:34 pm

Right now (or soon) Ill have about 500 dollars to spend on my pc. As its a dell what I'm thinking of doing is putting a new motherboard and processor in while keeping my video card, ram etc. My first question is, would this work?

My current system has a Pentium 4 HT, 1.5 gigs of ram, and a BFG 7950

So would I be able to swap out the motherboard and processor while keeping everything else?

This is the processor I'm thinking of : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6819115002

And this is the mother board: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6813121059

Thanks for any help

You're gonna need different RAM, as I remember Dell mobo's use RIM. Also, you need the RAM to be DDR2 ;)

I like that processor but not the motherbaord. The ASUS P5B series or a Gigabyte GA-P965-DS3 would be a better choice. Or one of the many ASUS 975X based boards. Intel does make alright boards, but they offer more stability than preformance.
