Computer speed.

Postby a1 » Wed Feb 28, 2007 10:07 pm

All of my time as a computer geek i was always interested in the speed of the processor. now is that the second to most important thing to memory? and should i even worry about speed if i have a Pentium 4 with hyper threading an 4Ghz. :-?

You're running a 4GHz pressy? Somehow I doubt this, as I thought I was the only one on the board with an OC like that.

Anyway there are many multiples in the speed of the computer. So a super high FSB must be supported by fast RAM, or you will have a problem. Also you have to make sure that your chipset can support the voltages on both RAM and CPU and not fry.

As for worrying about speed? Yes. All in all its still a single core, its just a single core that works harder than most. If I were you, I would have that thing cracked to a min of 3.6Ghz 3.9 prefered.
